Smith Engineering recognizes that there are different barriers that often prevent some members of the Black community from thriving to their highest level of success. Hence, we are committed to continuously challenging established norms that discriminate, exclude or oppress individuals or groups throughout our faculty to ensure that all students feel welcomed.
Following the requests and recommendations of students from the Black community, we have provided a welcoming space where students can study, meet and socialize with others to develop relationships and build a strong sense of community at Queen’s. We host monthly socials and bi-monthly seminars to ensure the needs of our Black students are being met and better prepare them for life after graduation.
